Irvin’s story echoes America’s history as a nation of immigrants. He was born to two farm workers in Salinas, California. His father never graduated from high school, going to work on a farm at an early age to support his family. His parents moved their family to Northwest Arkansas in search of a safer community, a better education for their children, and their shot at living the American dream. Since his time as a student at Springdale High School, Irvin has spent his life amplifying the voices of the underprivileged and fighting for his community.
Irvin has been an activist for social justice since his time in the Springdale Public School System. At a young age, Irvin became very involved in the immigrant rights movement. He became Lead Coordinator for the Arkansas Natural DREAMers after graduating, a position he held for five years. Camacho has collaborated more recently with the United Community Coalition, chairing their iDREAM campaign, and helped organize more than 15 DACA clinics around the state. But what drives Irvin’s activism is a love for his community.
